D. G. C. P.

These painting deal with both the real and the desired. They are composed from a combination of images that are not only common, but can also be considered cultural ideals. I blend everyday images; wallpaper, cups, landscapes with idealized figures into a kind of abstract narrative. The process of the painting is an important aspect. It’s intent is meant to reveal. Thin layers of color are built up over college elements, as well as over meticulously executed figures, which are painted in black and white.

My interest is in the relationship between the figure, a story or setting, the domestic possibilities, the tension. I use combination of color and images in compositions that can be considered both congenial as well as antagonistic.
